Just in time for the September Swells, we are delighted to announce the Queen Maeve Surf Open Competition on Strandhill Beach from 28-29 September.
The concept of the competition is to reflect the strong recent growth and development of the club and to give local families and surfers the chance to get involved.
2019 Categories
There will be junior events for U10, U12 & U14 including a system to allow for assisted and un-assisted events. This means that kids who are not so advanced to paddle into their own waves can be helped into waves during a heat. Junior surfers from Grange, Cliffony and Bundoran have also been invited to be involved.
Also new for 2019 will be the Women’s Log Jam. This is to reflect the huge growth in women hitting the waves
Finally, to add some fun on the day, there will be a “Great Foamie Battle” under the gaze of Queen Maeve. There will be different event heats for different skill-levels but the general idea is to have a family-friendly event and encourage participation.
How To Enter
Anybody keen to enter for the competition needs to have an adult membership with the ISA to be insured to participate in the event. All entrants then need to register for the competition on IrishSurfing.ie.
Registration will include access to use a foamie for the competition.
