Who we are

County Sligo Surf Club is a community surf club based in County Sligo, Ireland. County Sligo Surf Club is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about how we use your personal information, you can contact enquiries@countysligosurfclub.com.

What information we collect

If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you submit. If you contact us directly by email, we collect the information contained in your email and any information you choose to provide.

Where you enquire about membership, club programmes or activities, we may also collect information necessary to deal with your request or administer your participation.

Why we use your information

We use your personal information to read, manage and respond to enquiries, administer membership and club activities, communicate with members and participants, and meet our legal, safeguarding, insurance and governance obligations where applicable.

We do not use information submitted through our contact form for marketing unless you have separately agreed to receive updates from us.

Our lawful basis

For general enquiries, we process your information on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the club. Where your request relates to membership or participation in a club programme or activity, processing may also be necessary to take steps at your request or to administer your membership or participation. In some circumstances, we may process information to comply with a legal obligation or where you have given us your consent.

Children’s information

Some of our activities and programmes are open to children and young people. Where personal information about a child is required for membership or participation, we only collect information that is reasonably necessary to administer the activity, communicate with parents or guardians, and support the safety and wellbeing of participants. Where appropriate, information should be provided by, or with the involvement of, a parent or guardian.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Routine enquiries will normally be deleted when they are no longer required for club administration. Some records may need to be retained for longer where required for legal, safeguarding, insurance, financial or governance purposes.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be shared with authorised club committee members, volunteers or service providers where reasonably necessary to respond to an enquiry, administer membership or club activities, operate the website, or meet our legal and safeguarding obligations.

Service providers that host or support our website, email or other club systems may process personal information on our behalf. Where we use service providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

International transfers

Some service providers may process or store information outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we will rely on appropriate safeguards or other lawful mechanisms for the transfer of personal information as required by data protection law.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, have inaccurate information corrected, request deletion or restriction of your information, object to certain processing, or request the transfer of your information. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise your rights or ask a question about your personal information, please contact us at enquiries@countysligosurfclub.com.

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland if you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information.

If we introduce analytics, embedded media or other third-party tools that collect personal information or use optional cookies, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for your consent.
